Region Description
The countryside around Pissouri ranges from majestic cliffs overlooking the mediterranean to the beautiful slopes of the troodos mountains. To the west is the much loved port of Paphos. The harbour area is to be improved to a world class standard and plans are afoot to upgrade and extend the airport to embrace a lot more flights and competition thereon. The " Mosaics " of Paphos are famous and depict scenes from greek mythology. In the adjacent area is " The Tombs Of The Kings " , these tombs date back to 4th century bc and are of great interest. " Petra Tou Romious" is the birthplace of Aphrodite the legend of whom is that she being the goddess of love and beauty rose from the waves in these baths.Further to the west is the stunning Akamas Nature Reserve which is just beyond the fishing villages and holiday beaches of Latsi and Polis. This area also appeals to hikers( organised walks ), cyclists( mountain bike tracks ) , and scuba divers encounter perfect water conditions so all standards of divers can participate. There are many vineyards to visit but a car is necessary or perhaps take in an all day coaching trip. The region is also popular for water sports such as kite surfing and jet skiing.
Area Description
PISSOURI AND THE SURROUNDING AREA:

Facilities: There are many shops and banks in the village square and beach area offering all the necessary provisions.
Eating out:

Eating out in Cyprus is very easy, very enjoyable and relatively cheap compared with the UK. Almost all Greek Cypriots speak English and so ordering food and drink is no problem. Pissouri Village Square, which is only 15 minutes walk from the villa, is a great place to eat, with many tavernas serving a good range of meals. Every Wednesday night in the summer the square has a Greek evening with dancing etc – you should book a table with one of the tavernas if you want to be there for what is a very typical Greek Cypriot experience. If you do not feel like going down to the Square, the Olympus Palace and Hillview restaurants are only 5 minutes walk away.

Local beaches:

Pissouri Beach is about 6 minutes drive from the villa, about a half hour walk there and ¾ hour back (up the hill). Around the beach area there are many tavernas and shops. On the beach there is a lifeguard station and you can hire beach equipment, sailing dinghies, surfboards, jet skis etc for very reasonable rates. Scuba diving is available locally.

Along the coast to the west of Pissouri there is the famous Aphrodite Rock, the birthplace of Aphrodite, where you can also have an excellent meal at the restaurant overlooking the rock. To the east of Pissouri is Avdimou beach where there are also good tavernas.

Some places of interest:

Olive oil museum at Anogyra; Wild Valley Ostrich Farm, north of Pissouri; Donkey Sanctuary at Vouni; Greek/Roman sites around Pafos and Lemesos; the Troodos mountain range and of course the numerous monasteries, the largest and most splendid of which is Kykkos in the Troodos mountain range. There are many leaflets and booklets in the third drawer in the kitchen.

How to find the property
Via Pafos Airport:

As you leave the airport, follow signs for Timi (there is only one road out of the airport!). After about 5k you will join the B6 at a T-junction, and turn right towards Lemesos (Limassol). After about 2k, turn left to join the main (dual carriageway) A6, again signposted Lemesos. Driving towards Lemesos, after about 20k, leave the dual carriageway at the junction signposted B6 Pissouri and Alektora, and turning right head for Pissouri.

After about 1k, at the bottom of the hill, turn right at the T junction (in front of you there is the Rantzo Café & Apartments). After a further 1k turn left where the sign (on right side of road) says Pissouri 2k. As a further landmark there is a garden centre on the left corner of this junction.

Drive up the hill, around the Z bend towards Pissouri village and take the next right which is an easier route as it avoids having to go through the village itself. Carry on up hill and when you reach the top you will see the Hillview Restaurant on your left. Carry on down the road and you will pass a football pitch on your right. When you have past the foootball pitch you will come to a T junction. At the T junction turn right and Pissouri Vines 2 complex is the next left. Turn into the complex and take the opening on your right which leads to the car park. Cara aparment is no 5 and is the second ground apartment on the left.

Larnaca Airport:

As you leave the airport area, at the first roundabout take the left hand turning signposted Nicosia and Lemesos (Limassol). Drive straight through the next two roundabouts, go under the new dual carriageway road under construction and turn right at the next junction, which has traffic lights. You are then driving along a dual carriage towards Nicosia and Lemesos. After about 8k, take left turn to Lemesos and then in approx a further 15k the road splits again. Again take the signs to Lemesos – you do in fact drive straight on at this junction as the left turn off takes you to Nicosia, which you do not want.

You have now joined the main A6 Highway road, which will take you to Lemesos (about 50k). When you reach the outskirts of Lemesos carry on driving along the highway, taking signs for Pafos. After about 30k you will come to a junction signed B6 Pissouri and Alektora. Turn off dual carriageway here and turn left.
Now follow directions as above from Pafos Airport, from second paragraph.
